The Scholar of the Occult

Forgotten knowledge; unnatural sorcery; no boundaries of tradition are a deterrent to this scholar. In their pursuit for deeper truths, they discovered ways to magically expand the influence of their own Arcane mastery and to dig into the inner realms of their enemies, draining their enhancements and mana, and redirecting it into their allies.

The Sage represents the pinnacle of arcane scholarship, wielding magic not just as a weapon but as a tool for manipulation and support. Through Soul Link, they share their considerable magical bonuses with allies, turning the entire party into enhanced spellcasters. Their Draining Pulse and Soul Siphon abilities drain enemy resources while Spell Breaker shuts down enemy mages entirely. For offense, Arcane Barrage and Arcane Lance provide versatile neutral damage options.


Unlock

Sage is a tier 3 class that is unlocked by leveling the Sorcerer class to level 40. As all T3 classes, it retains all of the previous T2 and T1 classes' skills.


Pros and Cons

Comparisons are made considering classes from the same tier

Sages excel as magical support specialists who enhance allies while crippling enemy casters. Soul Link shares bonuses from Arcane Intellect, Clairvoyance, and stolen MP with linked allies, making them invaluable in magic-heavy parties. Spell Breaker can completely shut down enemy spellcasters, absorbing their MP for the team.

Their offensive options are respectable: Arcane Barrage fires 5 missiles at multiple targets, while Arcane Lance concentrates all power into a single devastating strike with high critical potential.

  • Weaknesses:
    • Lower raw damage than Wizard
    • Soul Link requires setup time
    • Less effective against non-magical enemies
    • Dependent on allies to maximize potential


Stats

Sages balance INT for M.Atk with WIS for MP regeneration and DEX for S.Atk to land debuffs.

INT powers spell damage and is enhanced by Arcane Intellect. WIS provides MP sustain and M.Def. DEX ensures Draining Pulse, Soul Siphon, and Spell Breaker land consistently.

AGI offers some speed for more actions. VIT provides modest survivability.

  • For maximum party support:
Balance INT and WIS for sustained buffing and MP sharing. DEX ensures debuffs land. Focus on keeping  Soul Link active on key allies.
  • For offensive Sage:
Prioritize INT for  Arcane Lance damage, with DEX for the skill's critical bonuses. Use  Arcane Intellect to boost M.Atk further.
  • For anti-mage specialist:
Heavy DEX investment for  Spell Breaker and  Status Sovereignty. Shut down enemy casters while stealing their MP for the team.

Default

The default script prioritizes support and anti-mage tactics:

  1. Uses healing items when HP is critically low
  2. Uses Soul Link on Wizard allies who aren't linked
  3. Uses Clairvoyance when Foresight buff is not active (5 round cooldown)
  4. Skips idle if enemies are not gathering materials
  5. Idles when only gathering nodes remain
  6. Uses Draining Pulse when enemies have 2+ Drain stacks and 2+ enemies present
  7. Uses Spell Breaker on channeling enemies with highest M.Atk (5 round cooldown)
  8. Uses Arcane Barrage against 3+ enemies not gathering materials
  9. Uses Arcane Lance as primary attack against non-gathering enemies
  10. Falls back to basic attacks

Arcane Barrage

A torrential neutral ranged spell that fires 5 arcane missiles at up to 5 different enemies. Enhanced by Magic Darts and Magic Missile, adding 0~20% M.Atk per missile on top. Missiles prioritize hitting multiple targets, but can hit the same if only 1 remains. Each missile deals 50~100% M.Atk damage. Consecutive hits on the same target deal 75% damage. Receives 0~40 additional HIT from enhancing skills.

Arcane Lance

Concentrates all magic missiles into 1 powerful arcane harpoon that hits with dangerous unpredictability. Enhanced by Magic Darts and Magic Missile, deals a magic missile's damage times 3, plus 30~100% M.Atk Magic Damage, 10~30 C.Chance and 30~80 C.Atk, for a max total of 340% M.Atk and 30 C.Chance, 80 C.Atk and 0~20 Hit inherited from enhancing skills.

Arcane Intellect

Intuitively increases M.ATK by +0.4 per level, as well as granting control of the mana flow into themselves, adding +3 MP per level, for a total of 40 M.Atk and 300 MP at max level. These bonuses can be shared with party members by using Soul Link. Levels up on casting magic abilities.

Soul Siphon

passive

Hitting deeply within their enemies, spells cast by the Sage that connect now also have an S.Atk chance to hurt the enemy's MP by 10~20% of its damage. Furthermore, 25~75% of that MP damage is stolen and divided to the Sage and any Soul Linked allies. Enhanced by Spellmirror, gets 0~10 S.Atk from it, and adds 0~10 S.Atk on top when trying to deal MP damage. Levels up when MP is stolen.

Grasping knowledge from the proverbial heart of ailments, the Sage has offensively and defensively mastered status conditions. Increases S.Atk and S.Def by +0~20. Levels up by landing a hit.

Draining Pulse

All spells now mark and weaken enemies. When they hit, there is an S.Atk chance to apply Drained to the target. Hits apply a stack of Drain, and drained enemies lose 1~4 Eva per stack and 0.5~2 SPD per stack, each stack lasting 5 rounds. Activate the skill to consume all stacks, dealing 20~50% M.Atk neutral magic damage per stack. Has 100% HIT Rate, bypassing the 95% Hit chance limit. Always activates Soul Siphon's MP steal.

Forms a bond between the Sage's and an ally's essential forces. Any positive effect from Spellmirror, MP drained by Soul Siphon or Spell Breaker, and bonuses from Clairvoyance and Arcane Intellect are shared with all linked allies. Maximum links: 1 at levels 1~19, 2 at levels 20~79, 3 from level 80 forward. Link lasts 10~30 rounds. If a new link exceeds the max, the oldest link is undone. Levels up by linking to a new ally.

Harnessing the talent of Divination to predict future events, the Sage is able to avoid harm before it even happens. Applies the "Foresight" buff on the Sage and any Soul Linked allies. Foresight provides 30~80 Eva against a single attack, or until the duration expires. Lasts for 4~9 rounds.

Levels up by doing damage while equipped with a Tome or Manual.

The Sage applies their extensive magical expertise defensively, surrounding a target with an anti-magic shield. Inflicts a debuff to an enemy that lasts for 4~9 rounds, which causes the target's next magic skill cast to have a 40~90% chance to fizzle out and fail. The Sage, and any Soul Linked allies, recover 50~100% of the absorbed skill's MP cost. Has a 20~40 S.Atk bonus.
