Characters

From ROIdle Wiki

The main actors on the stage of Ragnarok Oblivion's story, the Characters in your party are the first and perhaps most important part of the game.

Your team starts out with 3 members, and 2 more join in at a specific moment in the game (more about this in Classes). They will play different roles in the story and interact with one another in combat and lore.

There are several different elements in a Character that the player can pick and choose. Those are (you can click some titles for more info):

Name[edit]

When you first create the character you will naturally have to pick their name. But you can change it at any moment with no cost, so don't feel stuck with it!

Gender[edit]

Also chosen right at the moment of character creation. This will only determine which visual skins, hairs and accessories will be available for that character. There are 2 sets of visuals, so only Male and Female genders are options. There is no mechanic locked behind one or the other. Switching the gender of a character is not possible right now, but might be implemented in the future.

Equipment[edit]

The weapon, armor and accessories you choose to equip on each character will help shape their combat style.

Every character starts out with an old set of equipment in their inventory (a copper dagger and a shredded leather brigandine), and different entry level gear can be bought from the NPC vendor, but better gear needs to be crafted in the Smithy or bought from other players.

There is no hard lock on type of equipment for any character class, so experiment a lot and find a combination that suits your needs.

Visuals[edit]

Right at the start, your characters will look pretty plain and the same from one another. But as time goes by, you'll unlock new costumes, hairstyles and headwear. After they are unlocked, the visuals become available forever and you can switch them at will on the character screen.

Class[edit]

One of the most defining characteristics of your team members is their Class. It will set many of the character's base Attributes (like HP/MP growth and bonus Stats), as well as the skills they will have available while having that Class selected.

At the beginning of the game, the 3 initial members will necessarily have the 3 initial classes selected, since only these 3 Classes will be available. No 2 characters might have the same class selected at the same time. But as you level your classes up, new classes become available, and you might choose any unique combination that you can imagine for your characters. So experiment a lot and find the party that suits your playstyle!

Stats[edit]

Every character in the game, even the monsters, have 6 main traits that define their battle prowess: Strength, Agility, Vitality, Intelligence, Dexterity and Wisdom. They are called Stats, and can be allocated as desired by spending Stat Points, some available from the start, and then more rewarded at each level up.

Finding the perfect balance between them for the playstyle you choose is the key to becoming Ragnarok Oblivion's most formidable party.

Level[edit]

For increasing HP & MP, getting more Stat Points to allocate into Stats, being able to equip stronger gear and even more perks, your characters will need to increase their base Level. To do that, they acquire EXP (Experience Points) through killing monsters or finishing quests. The table of required EXP per level can be found on the dedicated EXP Requirement page.

Battle Behavior[edit]

The way each of your characters behave during combat is controlled by a set of conditions and steps named Battle Scripts (mostly called simply as Script). Each class has a default one that is used in case you do not want to take control of this aspect of the game (you do this by constructing a certain building in the Estate).
