Important things to consider in the early game:

  • Warriors benefit from DEX, STR, VIT, AGI in this order. They do well as tanks and damage dealers, and synergize with Heavy Armors, melee Weapons and Shields or Bucklers.

  • Scouts benefit from DEX, STR, AGI, VIT in this order. They do well as damage dealers and off-healers/utility, and synergize with Medium Armors, melee or ranged weapons and Bucklers or Tomes/Manuals.

  • Apprentices benefit from DEX, INT, WIS, VIT in this order. They do well as healers and off-damage dealers, and synergize with Light Armors, Staves or Wands, and Tomes/Manuals.

  • A little bit of VIT and WIS are always welcome in any character, as they increase P.Def/M.Def, and HP/MP, and all characters benefit from those.

  • Don't be afraid to try stuff! Stat resets are relatively cheap, and once a month, on the first weekend, it's free. Experiment what works best for your play style, Stat wise and also equipment.

  • The Tavern has 'Bounty Quests' that reset daily. They are a great source of Zeny (money) and experience early on.

  • Buy the rest of the gear you don't get for free at the start of the game. The NPC merchant has all Tier 1 weapons and normal armor available, and upgrading them to +4 helps a lot in the very beginning.

  • Turning on material gathering is important, since it is the only way to get materials that will be needed for upgrading your Estate buildings, as well as crafting weapons.

  • Focus on getting the Smithy to Lvl 2 as soon as possible, so you can craft stronger weapons and progress faster.

  • Use the Battle Log and Hunt Log to see how your characters are doing during and after battle. This can help you understand if they lack HIT rate and are missing the enemies too much, who is dealing the most damage, how much experience you are getting from that map, and much more.

Stats

You can find formulas and scaling in the page Stats & Attributes.

Basic classes

Warrior and Scout damage scales from STR, but both require DEX for Hit.
Apprentice damage scales from INT, but it requires DEX for Hit.
Apprentice heals scale from WIS.
All classes benefit from VIT and AGI.

Accuracy

Ideally you want to reach 95% hit rate which is the max available.
You can find monsters Eva stats in the bestiary and stack Dex accordingly to reach Final Hit = Eva + 95.
Final Hit = Hit + Skill bonus Hit + AoE buffs.
In the early game Scout's Tactical Positioning is the only AoE Hit buff skill you can cast.
You can keep track of hit chance from the Battle Log when your characters miss an attack or a skill.

Gear

Shop

In the shop you can find the basic t1 gear without attributes, it's cheap early on and can carry you until t2.

Smithy

Smithy will allow you to craft every gear present in the game except legendaries.
From tier 3 some gear requires Laboratory products.
You can find Smithy and Laboratory levels in the Estate page.

Refinement

Refinement comes in 3 groups:

  • +1 - +4: it uses same tier material
  • +5 - +7: it uses materials from the tier +1
  • +8 - +10: it uses materials from the tier +2

Refinement it's quite strong early on, because it improves mostly HP.
+4 Refinement is cheap and quite efficient, most of the gear at +4 the gear improves in defensive stats.
+7 Refinement is very important if the gear has good enchantments, it's better than common gear of the next tier at +4.
+10 Refinemnt is criminally bad for efficiency and mental sanity.
Refinement HP doesn't scale with armor multipliers.
A good rule of thumb: use weapons of the max tier you can reach at +4, use armor from 1 tier below at +7.

Enchantment

Middle-End game feature, very expensive, you are in the wrong guide.

Armory

QOL feature to swap stats and gear. More useful for stats than gear.

Market

Sometimes you can find good gear for cheap in the market.
Players will craft multiple gear to craft good attributes or to improve skill levels, they will eventually dump in the market.
Market is also the only way to find legacy gear, like gauntlets with offensive attributes.

Subjective opinions

Heavy gear is the strongest gear early on for every class, even apprentice (you pivot apprentice to full heals and -matk is irrelevant).
Heavy gear falls off in favour of Medium gear, to do this you need +7 gear (and good rolls).
Light gear is very good for the SDef branch, but not every hunt/dungeon allows to use a weak backline. You can mix Medium gear and Light if you know what Eva/SDef levels you want to reach.

Logs

Hunt Log

The hunt log will describe the current hunt or dungeon.
You can find here:

  • battle log links
  • enemies per encounter
  • exp per encounter
  • drops per encounter
  • dungeon events
  • dungeon recap at the end of the dungeon

Battle Log

The battle log is encounter based, it will reset with a new encounter.
You can pause the auto-scroll in the top right or you can analyse a specific encounter clicking the link in the hunt log.
You can share battle log links with other players.
You can use the filter in battle log to understand better what is happening.
Filter examples:

  • Nabbith will filter every action Nabbith did or received
  • ^Nabbith will filter every action Nabbith did
  • ^Nabbith|--- like above and it will add one line to identify rounds
  • ^Nabbith|^Nabbith2 will filter every action Nabbith or Nabbith2 did
  • ^Nabbith|^Nabbith2|--- like above and it will add one line to identify rounds
