ROIdle is, at its core, an RPG. Inspired by the legendary korean MMORPG Ragnarök Online, it was meant to be a less competitive, more chilled version of it, allowing the player to set a task in motion, close the game, and then come back later with the task already complete or on it's way there. All in the browser, no download needed. We ended up drifting from the original premise quite a bit, borrowing a lot from incremental browser games and other RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons and Final Fantasy. And we arrived at this Sandboxy Idle RPG, where you control an entire party of adventurers, filled with crafting mechanics, class progression, dungeons and an in-depth scripting system to control the characters behavior in battle.
Here are sections about some of the main features of the game:
Most of the challenges found in ROIdle are balanced to be faced as a group. The concept of Party is crucial to the game, and it refers to the team chosen to go into a Hunt or Dungeon.
Hunts are the bread and butter of an adventurer. It's where they go to gather precious resources to develop their equipment and Estate buildings, and also where they earn most of their combat experience.
More dangerous than normal Hunts, Dungeons are endeavors that require more preparing and are less forgiving. At the end, powerful boss monsters are awaiting for a tough fight with precious rewards.
Story
Pending full implementation
A main storyline is told throughout the game through Story quests. It tells the tale of how the inhabitants of the world of Rune Midgard rebuild after the cataclysmic event called Ragnarok. And though not mandatory, it is very helpful to follow along, as many of its rewards will help the player progress.
Pending full implementation
Aside from the Story, other quests can be found in the game. Either in the Tavern or the Story section, they are an alternative way to earn experience, money and other useful rewards.
Weapons and consumables in this game are mostly crafted by the players themselves. To do it, they need the correct facility built and upgraded to the necessary level in their Estate.
The place where you'll use most of your gathered materials. Buildings for various upgrades and requirements can be built in this plot of land.
