Important things to consider in the early game:

  • Warriors benefit from STR, VIT, DEX, in this order. They do well as tanks and damage dealers, and synergize with Heavy Armors, melee Weapons and Shields or Bucklers.
  • Scouts benefit from STR, AGI, DEX, in this order. They do well as damage dealers and off-healers/utility, and synergize with Medium Armors, melee or ranged weapons and Bucklers or Tomes/Manuals.
  • Apprentices benefit from WIS, INT, DEX, in this order. They do well as healers and off-damage dealers, and synergize with Light Armors, Staves or Wands, and Tomes/Manuals.
  • A little bit if VIT and WIS are always welcome in any character, as they increase P.Def/M.Def, and HP/MP, and all characters benefit from those.
  • Don't be afraid to try stuff! Stat resets are relatively cheap, and once a month, on the first weekend, it's free. Experiment what works best for your play style, Stat wise and also equipment.
  • The Tavern has 'Bounty Quests' that reset daily. They are a great source of Zeny (money) and experience early on.
  • Buy the rest of the gear you don't get for free at the start of the game. The NPC merchant has all Tier 1 weapons and normal armor available, and upgrading them to +4 helps a lot in the very beginning.
  • Turning on material gathering is important, since it is the only way to get materials that will be needed for upgrading your Estate buildings, as well as crafting weapons.
  • Focus on getting the Smithy to Lvl 2 as soon as possible, so you can craft stronger weapons and progress faster.
  • Use the Battle Log and Hunt Log to see how your characters are doing during and after battle. This can help you understand if they lack HIT rate and are missing the enemies too much, who is dealing the most damage, how much experience you are getting from that map, and much more.
