Estate Upgrading is the process of improving facilities in your Estate to unlock new features, increase efficiency, and access higher-tier content. Each facility has multiple levels that require construction materials, Zeny, and time to upgrade.
Accessing the Estate
To access your Estate and upgrade facilities:
1. Open the main menu 2. Navigate to the Waypoint tab 3. Select Estate from the waypoint options 4. This opens the Estate Management interface
Estate Management Interface
The Estate interface is divided into three main sections:
Left Panel: Facility List
Shows all your Estate facilities with their current levels:
- Facility Icon - Visual representation of each building
- Facility Name - Name of the building
- Current Level / Max Level - Shows progress (e.g., "Lv. 5 / 7")
- Highlight - Currently selected facility is highlighted in green
Facility Categories:
- Core Facilities - Estate, Storage, Mail Box, Planning Hall, Runic Battle Codex
- Crafting Facilities - Smithy, Anvil, Laboratory, Study
- Processing Facilities - Sawmill, Stonemill, Tannery, Forge
- Efficiency Buildings - Workbench, Grinder, Leatherworking, Metallurgy
- Special Facilities - Grind Stone, Monster Altar, Salamander's Beacon, Valkyrie's Shrine, Valdyr's Watch
- Utility Buildings - Gym, Library, Shop Efficiency, Stonemine Detector, Garden, Armory, Enchantment Station
Right Panel: Facility Information
When a facility is selected, the right panel displays:
Facility Description:
- Detailed explanation of what the facility does
- Special notes about level requirements and restrictions
- Benefits gained from upgrading
Next Upgrade Costs:
- Material Requirements - Shows required construction materials with quantity needed and quantity owned (e.g., "0/24" in red if you don't have enough)
- Zeny Cost - Amount of Zeny required (shown in gold icon with amount)
- Construction Time - How long the upgrade will take (e.g., "8h")
Upgrade Button:
- Active (clickable) - When you have all required materials and Zeny
- Grayed Out - When you're missing materials, Zeny, or have a level restriction
Material Display
Each material requirement is shown with an icon and quantity:
Brick VI - Brick icon (example)
Plank VI - Wooden plank icon (example)
Leather VI - Leather icon (example)
Metal Beam VI - Metal beam icon (example)
The numbers show: Owned / Required
- Green text - You have enough materials
- Red text - You need more materials (e.g., "0/24" means you need 24 but have 0)
Upgrade Requirements
Level Restrictions
The Estate building is the master facility that determines maximum levels for all other buildings:
Estate Level Caps:
- Estate Level 1 → Other facilities can reach Level 1
- Estate Level 2 → Other facilities can reach Level 2
- Estate Level 3 → Other facilities can reach Level 3
- Estate Level 4 → Other facilities can reach Level 4
- Estate Level 5 → Other facilities can reach Level 5
- Estate Level 6 → Other facilities can reach Level 6
- Estate Level 7 → Other facilities can reach Level 7
Exception - Processing Facilities:
The four processing facilities can be upgraded **one level higher** than your Estate:
Example:
- Estate Level 5 → Most facilities max at Level 5
- Estate Level 5 → Processing facilities can reach Level 6
This allows you to gather and process Tier VI materials before upgrading your Estate to Level 6.
Material Requirements
Each upgrade requires specific construction materials:
- Brick I through Brick VII - Processed from Stone at the Stonemill
- Plank I through Plank VII - Processed from Logs at the Sawmill
- Leather I through Leather VII - Processed from Hides at the Tannery
- Metal Beam I through Metal Beam VII - Processed from Metal Ore at the Forge
The tier of materials required matches the facility level you're upgrading to.
Example: Upgrading Estate from Level 5 to Level 6
- 24 Brick VI
- 24 Plank VI
- 16 Leather VI
- 16 Metal Beam VI
- 192,000 Zeny
- 8 hour construction time
Not all facilities require all four material types. Check individual facility pages for specific requirements.
Zeny Requirements
Zeny costs increase significantly with each tier:
| Tier | Typical Zeny Cost Range |
|---|---|
| Tier 1 | 100 - 250 Zeny |
| Tier 2 | 250 - 1,000 Zeny |
| Tier 3 | 1,000 - 8,000 Zeny |
| Tier 4 | 8,000 - 16,000 Zeny |
| Tier 5 | 24,000 - 48,000 Zeny |
| Tier 6 | 48,000 - 192,000 Zeny |
| Tier 7 | 85,000 - 425,000 Zeny |
Costs vary by facility type, with the Estate building typically requiring the highest amounts.
Construction Time
Upgrade times increase with facility tier:
| Tier | Typical Construction Time Range |
|---|---|
| Tier 1 | 1 minute |
| Tier 2 | 5 - 30 minutes |
| Tier 3 | 30 minutes - 2 hours |
| Tier 4 | 2 - 4 hours |
| Tier 5 | 4 - 8 hours |
| Tier 6 | 8 - 24 hours |
| Tier 7 | 10 hours - 2 days 2 hours |
The Estate building has the longest construction times, with Level 7 taking 2 days and 2 hours.
Upgrade Process
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Access Estate - Open Waypoint tab → Select Estate 2. Select Facility - Click on the facility you want to upgrade from the left panel 3. Review Requirements - Check the "Next Upgrade Costs" section
* Verify you have all required materials * Ensure you have enough Zeny * Note the construction time
4. Gather Materials - If missing materials, gather raw materials and process them at the appropriate facility 5. Click Upgrade - When all requirements are met, the Upgrade button becomes active 6. Confirm Upgrade - Click the Upgrade button to start construction 7. Wait for Completion - The facility will show a construction timer 8. Upgrade Complete - Facility automatically levels up when timer reaches zero
During Construction
While a facility is upgrading:
- The facility remains functional at its current level
- You cannot start another upgrade on the same facility
- You can upgrade other facilities simultaneously (one upgrade per facility)
- Construction continues even when offline
Canceling Upgrades
Check if upgrades can be canceled - if so, note:
- Whether materials are refunded
- Whether Zeny is refunded
- Any penalties for canceling
Upgrade Priority Guide
Recommended upgrade order for new players:
Phase 1: Foundation (Levels 1-3)
1. Estate - Always upgrade first to unlock higher facility levels 2. Processing Facilities (Sawmill, Stonemill, Tannery, Forge) - Ability to process materials 3. Storage - More space for materials and items 4. Planning Hall - Longer hunt times for better farming
Phase 2: Efficiency (Levels 3-5)
1. Estate - Continue upgrading to unlock higher tiers 2. Processing Facilities - Keep one level ahead of Estate 3. Efficiency Buildings (Workbench, Grinder, Leatherworking, Metallurgy) - Reduce material costs 4. Crafting Facilities (Smithy, Laboratory) - If you plan to craft equipment or consumables
Phase 3: Specialization (Levels 5-7)
1. Estate - Push to Level 7 for endgame content 2. Processing Facilities - Maintain level advantage 3. Specialized Buildings - Based on your playstyle:
* Monster Altar - For dungeon farming (boss room detection) * Salamander's Beacon - Reduce Darkness event chance in dungeons * Valkyrie's Shrine - Reduce Fatigue event chance in dungeons * Valdyr's Watch - Unlock Hard difficulty for Elite monsters * Gym - Skill EXP bonus * Library - Character/Class EXP bonus
Optional Facilities
These can be upgraded based on specific needs:
- Anvil / Study - If actively crafting equipment/consumables
- Grind Stone - If refining equipment regularly
- Stonemine Detector - If needing more Stone nodes
- Garden - For passive material generation
- Armory - If frequently switching builds
- Enchantment Station - For high-quality item re-enchanting
- Mail Box - Required for trading with other players
- Runic Battle Codex - Advanced battle scripting
Cost Planning
To plan your Estate upgrades effectively:
Material Calculation
1. Check the Estate page for full upgrade cost tables 2. Calculate total materials needed for your target level 3. Determine how many raw materials to gather (remember 20:1 ratio, reduced by efficiency buildings) 4. Factor in efficiency upgrades to reduce costs
Example: Planning for Estate Level 6
If Estate Level 6 requires:
- 24 Brick VI
- 24 Plank VI
- 16 Leather VI
- 16 Metal Beam VI
Without efficiency upgrades:
- 480 Stone VI (24 × 20)
- 480 Logs VI (24 × 20)
- 320 Hides VI (16 × 20)
- 320 Metal Ore VI (16 × 20)
With Grinder Level 2 (-10%):
- 432 Stone VI (24 × 18)
- Benefits apply to all processing facilities
Zeny Farming
Higher-tier upgrades require significant Zeny. Best methods:
- Hunt in appropriate tier zones - Kill monsters matching your level
- Sell excess materials - Vendor trash loot from hunts
- Complete bounties - Daily/weekly bounty rewards
- Farm efficiently - Use Planning Hall for longer hunt sessions
Tips and Strategies
- Upgrade Estate first - Always prioritize Estate upgrades to unlock higher facility levels
- Keep Processing facilities ahead - Use the +1 level advantage to prepare materials for next Estate tier
- Build efficiency upgrades early - Workbench, Grinder, Leatherworking, and Metallurgy save massive amounts of materials
- Gather consistently - Collect materials during every hunt to avoid bottlenecks
- Plan ahead - Know what materials you need for your next 2-3 upgrades
- Upgrade during downtime - Start long construction timers before logging off
- Focus on core facilities first - Specialized buildings can wait until you have spare materials
- Use Dimensional Storage - Store large quantities of materials to prepare for multiple upgrades
Common Issues
Q: Why can't I upgrade my facility?
- Check if your Estate level is high enough
- Verify you have all required materials
- Ensure you have enough Zeny
- Confirm no other upgrade is in progress on that facility
Q: Why are Processing facilities showing higher max levels?
- This is intended - Processing facilities can go one level higher than your Estate
Q: How do I get materials faster?
- Upgrade efficiency buildings (Workbench, Grinder, etc.) to reduce costs
- Hunt in zones matching your material tier needs
- Use Stonemine Detector for more Boulder nodes
